- Got a ride from my father to the Opening Doors of NWFL Facility 1020N. Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL, 32505 at 8:30am Feb 28 2025
- I arrived at the Opening Doors facility at close to 9:00am and met with/ spoke to Phyllis, Edward and Martika along with a few other volunteers
- I helped unfold and set-up several tables then moved them several times before the event set up was decided have a row of three tables set up in front of the curb of the Opening Doors of NWFL facility entrance.
- While other volunteers continued to set up the rest of the table I began to grab chairs from the shed and placing 4 chairs at each table set-up
- . I was able to assist catholic charities volunteers in removing clothing items from boxes and sorting the clothing into piles on the 5th and sixth tables along with moving childrens items from tables 5 n 6 and placing them on table #3 next to the bottled water.
- I had a few conversations with Edward lasting a few minutes after the event was set-up and want to really acknowledge Edwards patience, thoughtfulness and knowledge,
- I also spoke to Tammy who very much did seem receptive to volunteer or potentially hired help for the mobile street outreach which she mentioned she would be in charge of, and for which she was actively seeking potential hirees to work under her, She was very helpful and gave me a tour of the Opening Doors Street outreach van.
- she mentioned vouchers for homeless or indigent to update ID's, (a question about which someone I had a conversation with during the Street Outreach phase of the point-in-time count Waterfront Rescue Mission event had asked- a topic that requires more research).
- At around 11:45 I got Ice Cream for me and my father who was waiting in a parking lot across the street from the Opening Doors facility.
- notified a group of young individuals about the availability of free icecream in the parking lot of the opening doors facility
- ate a strawberry cheesecake icecream cone while walking.
- Had a nice conversation with catholic charities volunteer #3
- Mrs. Keiek gave a detailed overview of the homeless case review process
- After this conversation along with the volunteers, staff, and I participated in packing up the clothes remaining from the event, for temporary storage at the Opening Doors of NWFL facility, stacking and storing the tables on a rolling lift, and storing the chairs from the event in the shed,
- Got a ride home from father at 12:30pm
