- Got a ride from my father to the Escambia County public safety building for the Escambia County EMS Open-House.
- Spoke with Carolyn Gray and Carline Klages about upcoming Brace events.
- Took 10-20 Brace Flyers to place at neighbor's houses, PSC, and the east hill neighborhood.
- Met Morgan, Woody, Chris, Ezzy, Rebecca, Warren, Eric, Colby and Heath.
- Practiced placing a tourniquet on a fake limb with Rebecca.
- Talked with Rebecca, Woody, Chris, Eric, and Colby separately about Escambia County EMS classes/training, EMT training/schooling options, and Paramedic training/schooling options.
- Rebecca mentioned technical Schooling might be available for 400$, and that there were EMT and Paramedic Schools/courses at PSC and George stone technical college.
- Spoke with Woody about the Florida Core Program (Coordinated Opiate Recovery Effort).
- Practiced administering NARCAN on a dummy.
- Learned about the CPR machine, and about possible CPR courses available through Escambia County EMS and how to drill for inserting lidocaine? into a bone.
- Ezzy demonstrated the process of placing a breath tube, inserting the forceps into a dummy esophagus, and attaching a hand pump for an EMT to manual pump air into the dummy lungs.
- Morgan explained the electronic breathing assistance machine, and the Cardiac Monitoring system.
- Warren Explained the different types a few of the items in the EMS bags, The drug case/kit, the oxygen tank bag, and wound treatment bag (I apologize if the names of the bags are incorrect).
- Ezzy & Heath demonstrated the Ambulance stretcher loading & unloading process and the ambulance seatbelts.
- Heath explained
- past medical/wound trauma treatment experiences.
- how to place a splint on a bone fracture and or helping set a fracture.
- how to place a splint on a femur.
- Met Chris, Colby and Eric when I grabbed some chilli and cookies.
- they explained the types of classes available through Escambia County EMS.
- My Father showed up at 3:15pm and I got a ride home with him.
I appreciate Escambia County EMS's and BRACE's service to the Community, and I look forward to continuing to volunteer to help spread the word about these types of events!
