Attended Event-May 23rd, 2025 01:30 PM-03:30PM-PNS Shelter Site Visit to PNS Bay Center, Pensacola Bay Center, 201 E. Gregory Street, Pensacola, FL.
- Walked/Jogged to Pensacola Bay Center at 12:00pm for what I believed to be a 12:30pm-2:30pm event. ( as when I added the calendar event from the Red Cross Website the calendar event appeared on the calendar as 12:30pm to 2:30pm).
- Texted Mrs. Kelly Banks during transit (American Red Cross Event Lead) about maybe running late to the 12:30pm event
- She texted me back mentioning that the event was scheduled for 1:30pm.
- I got to the Pensacola Bay Center around 12:30pm and after reading the Pensacola Bay Center Dedication plaque, visited the ticket office at the main entrance.
- I spoke to a Pensacola Bay Center employee at the ticket window asking her if anyone from the American Red Cross had shown up yet.
- she responded that the wasn't aware if they had shown up or not yet and asked me to wait while she checked the meeting room schedule.
- She said there was no meeting listed on the schedule
- I showed her my American Red Cross Volunteer ID and waited near the ticket window for Mrs. Kelly Banks to show up.
- I met with Mrs. Kelly Banks and another volunteer and they lead me into the building.
- I met later met Mr. Norman Wright, my DAT training onboarding contact for the local Pensacola, NWFL American Red Cross chapter.
- We waited in the lobby of the Pensacola Bay Center as the other American Red Cross volunteers and staff, along with other volunteer organization members to show up to the meeting.
- The staff of the Pensacola Bay Center explained the Emergency shelter operations of the Pensacola Bay Center and moved the group to different parts of the facility explaining the Emergency Shelter Operation of each area visited.
- After the staff of Pensacola ended the explanation of the Emergency Shelter Operations of/at the Pensacola Bay Center, I along with the rest of the Pensacola Bay Center Emergency participants left the building and walked out to the parking lot.
- After continuing to speak with Mr. Norman Wright, about expectations and duties of the DAT position and what could be expected of me while working as a volunteer I thanked Mr. Norman Wright and Mrs. Kelly Banks and Walked home.
I am looking forward to continuing the onboarding process with the American Red Cross and starting to volunteer with the American Red Cross.
