John Thomas Winskas-KR4DYC-Attended Event:
Saturday, June 6th, 2025 3:00pm-7:00pm, BRACE Pre-disaster dash- packet pick-up -Fleet Feet, 236 W Garden St suite 1, Pensacola, FL 32502, USA,
Met with Preston and Robin at the BRACE Disaster Dash-Packet Pickup - Friday, June 6, 2025 from Task Time 2;30 pm to 3:30 pm CDT Event and Discussed upcoming BRACE; Preston and Robin warned me that the upcoming hurricane training at the Escambia Public saftey building is actually pernounced "Her-icane" and that "Her-icane' training may not be the same as the hurricane training I might be expecting at a public safety event! I might have to head Preston and Robin's warning and disinvite myself from the "Her-icane" training at the escambia county public safety building. Thank you Robin and Preston for the warning! Preston mentioned there are volunteer opportunites at the blue angels airshow event handing out water. Preston recommended that I participate for BRACE in the POD Wonders of the word ministries charity food giveaway event scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:30am-12:00pm at North 57th Avenue & Lillian Highway, So following the BRACE CERT chain of command I will be volunteering for BRACE at the POD event instead of the Disaster Dash event Tomorrow (pending the weather).
I also met with Kaden of Fleet Feet who measured my feet and gave me advice on the best time of insole to have in my shoe for all the walking and yardwork that I do! He reviewed what I should be looking for in a shoe whether im running, walking, and/or working in the yard, He immediately recognized my high arches and was able to recommend the type of product that would best suit my feet with pushing for a particular product. He also reviewed the pro's & con's of a barefoot type shoe if that is my personal preference. I really respected his knowledge, insight, and expertise and his earnest responses to my questions taking all of my questions seriously and responding in earnestness. Thank you very much Kaden!
I look forward to continuing to volunteer and train with BRACE CERT and to help spread the word about BRACE events to the community and also hope to make Pensacola community members aware of the quality of the products and services provided at Fleet Feet and by the Fleet Feet Staff!
