Saturday & Sunday June 28th & 29th 6:00 AM june 28th to 12:00pm june 29th FFARA Field Day, Ashton Brosnahan Park, Pensacola, FL

FFARA field day- day 1of 2; 

  • met sonny at ESAR building at 5:45am; 
    • filled coolers with ice; 
  • rode with sonny to ashton brosnaham park to set up for FFARA field day; 
    • Helped set-up tables, 
    • hang & tie banners
    • assisted standing up 35’ mast antenna,
    •  swept dirt from covered concrete area near tables and equipment,
    • introduced myself to/spoke to several FARRA Members 
      • asked them about about their ham experience & listened to their hobby projects suggestions; 
    • had a couple cookies for lunch; 
    • listened to several W4UC members making QSO contacts, (maybe listened to 20 QSO contacts(was too tired due to lack of sleep to talk on radio); 
    • sat down with FARRA members and ate dinner with the field day participants 
      • (had a greek spinach with flaky crust dish; cookies, miniature banana muffins coleslaw,  potato salad & potato chips;)
      • cleaned up & swept the dining benches, cleaned/wiped cooking utensils, etc. after dinner;
    • called dad & mom to make sure dad is doing ok after he went home from the hospital after spending the night at the hospital after pacemaker surgery.
      • They said his foot was hurt when I dont remember any mention of that when I was at the hospital with him for his surgery.
    • I Looked up potential time allocation & tool requirements for potential temporary project.
    • Listened to a few stories and learned from FARRA members.
    • Got 5 hours of sleep as the night before the event I only got 1.5 to 2 hours of sleep.
  • FFARA field day 2 of 2; 
    • Got up at sun-up (around 6:00am)
    • Cleaned up trash from park parking lot as in the morning from about 6:00am-8:30am;
    •  listened to Eugene and other FFARA members making & receiving calls 20-30 QSOs, 8:30am-10:30am; 
    • had a donut ; 
    • continued cleaning up trash from park & parking lot & helped pack up event from about 10:00-12:45 pm 
    • help pack up; & moved tables, equipment ect. to johnny’s trailer 
      • Met Mark & Preston a couple new potential FARRA members.
        • listened to Johnny & Larry answer their questions about recommendations for amateur radio equipment.
    • had 2 more donuts and 3 miniature muffins:
    • took 3 cookies and a bag of ruffles.
    • got ride from sonny to ESAR building;
      •  thought i could catch the bus home; 
        • turns out the bus to ESAR doesn’t run on sundays;  
      • Contacted mom she was able to give me a ride home; 
        • stopped at Malana & bob’s to check on dad & borrowed malana & Bobs electric lawn mower before getting a ride home from mom.
