Thursday, July 10th, 6:00am to 11:30am- ESAR Volunteer yardwork, 9530 nims st, pensacola, FL
ESAR Volunteer work; Set up plans with Jim Harrison for 3-5 hours of volunteer yardwork for ESAR (Jim picked me up around 6am).-
- got a ride to ESAR from Jim Harrison around 6:00am;
- jim bought the volunteers a bacon, egg and cheese croissant from burger king for breakfast ;
- ate the croissant with jim after arriving at the ESAR building;
- met Jim's wife again
- hooked up Jims hose to the ESAR tap ran/carried the/ Jims hose out to the fire area 30-50 feet south of the previous brushpile/fire location
- Pulled down vines from the south tree area of the esar yard.
- added the tree limbs, bark, and vines to a brush pile while;
- jim got a brush fire started;
- tried to pull down a tree with a Bouie and rope
- After I tried and failed to toss the Bouie and line/rope over the tree, Jim was able to toss the Bouie over a tall area of the tree
- We were able to pull the tree down safely with the help of one of Jim's chainsaws.
- Met simon again before he began helping clean up tree limbs & pulling down vines.
- Made progress on cleaning up the ESAR southyard using limb pruner, hand/ garden pruner, electric chainsaw, & foldable saw and an electric pruner.
- tried not to get any dirt on/ in the tools while using them.
- worked/continued until 10:00-11:00am (unsure of exact time).
- Ate an ice cream bar with Jim, Ann? (my apologies i keep forgeting your name- i will remember it next time), and simon.
- Made sure Jim and his wife, got the desserts I made
- a few portions of cornbread pudding on top of peach pancake crust cobbler.
- Got a ride home from Jim.
